No Straight Roads: Encore Edition is an improved version of the original No Straight Roads video game, developed by Metronomik. The Steam-only exclusive was released on October 21, 2021 so far. The PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 port of this version was released as a free update for the original No Straight Roads game on May 31, 2022 (somewhat the European version?).[1] Later on June 14, 2022, the update for North American and South American PSN+ software was released.

Production[]

In Metronomik's stream honoring No Straight Roads' 1st Anniversary Stream, the developers revealed a somewhat improved version titled, No Straight Roads: Encore Edition. This version includes additional new content, like a 2D-animated intro published by LZBros, and an alternate pause menu format that will use graffiti (finished by fans over the age of 18) for a guitar cover. The fan art submitted by fans can be found all around Vinyl City. No Straight Roads: Encore Edition is only available on Steam. [2] New artists have joined, such as Ian Tsuchiura from Hyper Potions remixing Tatiana's boss battle song; and Garrett Williamson who composed the music for the opening cinematic. Michael Staple, who previously remixed Yinu and Tatiana's boss themes in the Christmas DLC, returned to remix 1010's song.

As for the PS4 and PS5 ports, French interactive app Beam Beam serves as a collaborator for the fanart pieces in game.[3]

Content[]

Additions[]

  • An animated intro is published by LZ Bros, while its paired song "78RPM" is composed by Garrett Williamson.
  • New boss remixes are added, besides Tokyo Machine's remix of DJSS's boss theme.
  • Sound cues are the addition to the default boss music followups, from DJSS to Yinu.
  • 573 fanart pieces spread all over Vinyl City's walls.
    • A small dialogue segment is paired with the very first fanart content.
  • Christmas content is immediately added, after defeating each boss.
    • New Christmas-themed costumes for Sayu's creative crew are added, based on Ellie Yong's concept art for the Christmas DLC.
  • A new NSR security bot dubbed the Clapper is introduced in the game.
  • A post-game collectible contains the winner of the #StayatHomeandRap contest.
  • As of the patch fix from October 28, 2021, Neon J. is now programmed to dance.

Improvements[]

  • Highlights of incoming attacks and parry attacks are included for a bit of a better experience for later boss fights.
    • Floor highlights in 1010's boss battle determine the color of parrying and non-parrying attacks, and fluorescent spotlights in Eve's battle change from green to red for dodging.
  • The Sewers' segment cues are added to easily find new stuff.
  • Bunk Bed Junction's mods are adjusted to give more visual expression than their anterior versions.
  • "The City Streets (Posh Version)" replaces "The City Streets (Poppy Version)" in the Evenfall Gallery section of Dream Fever.
  • Fixes all Satellite and Cut-Scene bugs and glitches. Dialogue now always lines up with what is happening on screen.
  • General lighting and rendering issues have been patched.
