Vs. SAYU is the battle theme of digital idol Sayu. The original mix uses elements from the fast-paced "drum and bass" genre, whereas the EDM variation incorporates those from vaporwave. Both versions feature vocals from Nikki Simmons (voice of Sayu; Ai Yamamoto in Japanese release), whereas the rock remix does not.
The Christmas remix shares its similarities with the original variant, but with the additions of bell chimes. The Encore edition variation is heavily drum'n bass.
Lyrics[]
Undercurrents pull at your heart Feeling so powerful it leads you on The waves of emotion wash over me. But can you see the ocean through the reef? Undercurrents drag at your heart Feeling so powerful it leads you on A new tide comes in and I'm washed away Forces stronger than hate are left in the wake Stronger than hate Anchored through the tidal waves Go on, take the bait You can't fight the currents of love! Lifts you from the deep Rescued when you're lost at sea Only surge you'll ever need You can't fight the currents of love! Stronger than hate Anchored through the hurricane Go on, no need to wait You can't fight the currents of love! Lifts you from the brink Rescued when you start to sink Only dream you'll ever need You can't fight the currents of love! One, two, three, four Motion on the ocean floor! Five, six, seven, eight Double bubble, swim some more! One, two, three, four Motion on the ocean floor! One, two, three, four Swishing fishes, bring it in! Five, six, seven, eight Triple ripple, shake your fins! One, two, three, four Swishing fishes, let's begin~! One, two, three, four Salmon jammin' everywhere! Five, six, seven, eight Slammin' clams, I just don't care! One, two, three, four Salmon jammin' everywhere! One, two, three, four Swimmin' undersea parade! Five, six, seven, eight Cutesy-wootsy, pink mermaid! One, two, three, four Swimmin' undersea parade!

Music in Battle[]
First Phase[]
Before starting the first phase of the battle, the music will already begin to play in the cinematic when Sayu comments "I can see it in your eyes!".
This will continue to play even after the second part, where Sayu will show her first transformation. In the Soundtrack represented from the beginning of minute 0:00 to minute 0:42, which will repeat until the player passes to the next phase. When a synth part plays, eels will rise out of the wireframe parts of the floor.
Second Phase[]
In the cutscene, once the motion capture, Dodo, seriously joins the fight, a portion of 1:36 to 1:46 will play as Sayu makes her Pyun Pyun Trident appear.
This will change to the one that sounds from minute 0:42 to 1:36, when the second phase actually begins, and like the first, it will repeat until the end of the phase.
Third Phase[]
The music switches to a more calm, vaporwave version before switching so a build up of snare drums. Right after the cut-scene where Sofa, the video editor, is shown joining his team, the music of the next phase will already start playing, but the minute 1:36 - 1:46 will only sound in this beginning, where Mayday and Zuke will go down to the next level.
After this, the music from minute 1:46 to 2:39 will be repeated like the others during all this part.
Fourth Phase[]
Once Sayu comments "Listen to the soundwaves I want to give you!", the minute 2:39 - 2:50 will begin to sound in the cutscene where she loses control, and after this, minute 2:50 - 3:44 will sound in all the fourth phase while running away from her.
Fifth Phase[]
As Sayu's latest and shocking transformation is shown, the music 3:44 - 3:54 will be played just before being replaced by the 3:54 - 4:37 minute in the fight, which will be jumbled with lines from the earlier phases.
The final part of the soundtrack from minute 4:37 to the end 4:58 does not appear anywhere in the battle, as the fight and music ends suddenly wherever the player wins in the last phase.
Barrier Chips[]
In battle, each time one of the barrier chips are destroyed, something in the music will break or change in each phase.
- When the pink sound chip (Tila) is destroyed, Sayu's voice becomes almost imperceptible and with white noises. As there is no broken version of the Japanese version, it will be swapped to English. In the final phase, the lyrics can either be replaced by Mayday's guitar or be turned off completely depending on the version of the game.
- The base that creates the rhythm is replaced with Zuke's drums when the blue animation chip (Dodo) is broken.
- The EDM sounds change to smoother ones and the music becomes more melodious and immersive like the Vaporwave version of the song when the yellow edit chip (Sofa) disappears. Depending in the version of the game, the sounds are even replaced with Mayday's guitar at the final phase or swapped to the rock version of the song, where more bubbly EDM elements are added.
- The red design chip (Remi) is technically the one that moves the song to the next verse, since it's the last one that must be attacked in every phase of the fight. Before this change occurs, The music turns for a moment in a version where all the points above apply, even when some chip has not appeared in that phase.

Trivia[]
- This song (the base version actually) is used in the Rock Rebellion trailer for the game.
- The Japanese version of vs. SAYU is only used for the Japanese dub of the Rock Rebellion trailer.
- Vs. SAYU and all DK West Encounters seem to be the only songs in the game to have lyrics.
- Vs. Sayu is the only song in the game to have a Japanese variation, probably a nod to the origin of her musical style.
- The EDM version of Vs. DJ SUBATOMIC SUPERNOVA also has back lyrics.
- Although the music of the last phase in the fight against Sayu appears in the Soundtrack, the lyrics do not appear as they do in battle, although these are only distorted versions of the previous lyrics, representing how Tila, the composer and voice actress of Sayu, is attacking desperately Mayday and Zuke through the broken mermaid in the last part.
- The lyrics used for the glitched part are the following: "One, two, three, four", "Double bubble, swim some more!" and "Anchored through the tidal waves".
- This also applies in the Japanese version, the lyrics used for this part will be the following: "1!2!3!4!umi no naka e go" and "ai wa iino nami norikiru wa".
- The staff behind No Straight Roads, with the inclusion of vs. SAYU's core composer, James Landino, were previously going to add French and European Spanish languages for this song. They were later shelved, because of production costs. This leaves the Japanese version available in the final product for the original version.
- Vs. SAYU and Vs. YINU are tied with the most variations or remixes.
- Vs. SAYU's genre is mislabeled as "future bass" in James Landino's video for its Japanese version.
- The song is also very similar to Disney's "Fish Hook Intro Theme." (They both Fish theme base)
